Excellence in Liposuction

Traditional liposuction, invented in the 90’s, uses suction to pull fat into tubes. This works but has a few limitations:

• The fat is not released from the surrounding tissues. Thus, the fat requires manual disruption which can make the surgery take longer and lead to additional bruising.
• The fat is only removed from the tip of the cannula. Think of a magic wand for fat removal that only removes fat at the tip. It works, but covering an entire area of the body without overdoing it can be tricky.
• The skin is not addressed. For most people, the concern they are trying to address is related not only to fat but to skin. Traditional liposuction removes fat but doesn’t address skin laxity, and can even worsen the appearance of loose skin.

Smart lipo and laser lipo used a combination of energry and traditional liposuction to obtain skin contracture while performing liposuction. The idea was great but it didn't work.

Why?

Again, think back to the magic wand. In these technologies, the same wand delivered the energry paired with the fat removal. Unfortunately, especially if the fat is not released, it does not come out as the same rate everywhere. There are always pockets of fat that require extra attention to get the result.

Therefore, when an area is being heated while suction is occuring, different parts of the body would be over and under heated. This, in turn, leads to contour irregularities, or lumps and bumps under the skin.

• The treatment areas are filled with a combination of medications designed to decrease pain, bleeding, and inflammation.
• Fat release – once the areas are prepped for surgery by injecting the medications, the fat is released from the surrounding tissues. This is done with VASER, which uses ultrasonic sound waves to burst fat cells. The technology works without damaging the blood vessels that live under the skin, which allows for the removal of fat in a more uniform manner with less bruising.
• Fat removal – The fat is removed by a device that moves and rotates or vibrates to further loosen the fat and extract it quickly and effectively. We upgraded the magic wand! Now, the tip moves on its own to find fat more effectively and extract it. This allows for a more uniform and complete result in less time.
• Tightening – Once the fat is out, a device is placed under the skin that heats the underside of the skin and the soft tissues below it. This heat, delivered by Helium that has been excited to a plasma state, causes an immediate response, shrinking the skin down to the new contours below.
